Kyoto has a lot of nice hotels, so why stay here? The number one reason is its great location close to several train lines, many bus stops and many restaurants and stores in a major shopping area. We have been to Kyoto a number of times and this hotel has been our favorite because of the location, rooms and excellent service. We stayed for a week in a twin room on the 8th floor. There are 9 floors with about 8 rooms on floors 3-9. All rooms face west. Our room was good-sized, well-equipped. In addition to a large flat screen TV (with only local channels) there was a tea kettle, mini fridge, microwave and combo washer/dryer. There were also some plates and utensils. Often overlooked in these reviews is that the bed was very comfortable, and the hotel was very quiet. The hotel was newish, stylish and with a helpful staff. I particularly enjoyed the free coffee machine in the lobby and having my latte out on the 2nd floor patio. The English instructions for the washer/dryer were detailed but complicated. However, a staff member came up and showed us that we only needed to push 2 buttons after adding the hotel provided detergent. Out taxi driver from the train station had difficulty in figuring out where to drop us off as the hotel is on a pedestrian alleyway about 150 feet off the main street. The best drop off is where Shin-Kygoku (covered pedestrian street) intersects Shijo-dori (a main shopping street). Go @ 90 steps up the pedestrian street and turn right after Koe donuts, you will see the hotel sign. The lobby is on the 2nd floor. For going back to the train station, there is a taxi stand on Shijo-dori almost across the street from the pedestrian street – look for the McDonalds.

We loved everything about this hotel. The room was spotlessly clean, super comfortable and it was a pretty reasonable size. The staff were wonderful - English speaking, incredibly and always helpful. They have a complimentary tea and coffee station in the lobby, as well as an evening Sake station - yep, free sake if that’s your thing! They also have an origami station which my daughter and I really enjoyed using the “How To” book. We had our luggage forwarded from Osaka and they were already waiting in our room when we checked in - a huge convenience for us. The location is fantastic! Tucked away in a quiet laneway just off the Shinkyogoku Shopping District, the hotel is within walking distance of Gion, Nishiki Market, and so much more. There’s a taxi rank nearby, plus subway entrances just a few minutes away - it was super easy to get around. It’s a modern, stylish, and welcoming hotel that’s absolutely worth spending that little extra to stay here. If you’re visiting Kyoto, I highly recommend staying here.

The hotel is so quiet and spacious, which was beyond my expectations. The facilities are so thoughtful, including facial products, an electric stove, pots, free coffee, and sake/wine during special hours. The staff were very friendly and helpful; communication was very smooth. We received their help almost every day from the first arrival: Free luggage storage for early arrival, check-in on time with luggage to be sent to the room before we returned to the hotel, etc. We were grateful that we booked this hotel. The staff helped us with inquiries and bookings for inter-city luggage delivery services. The delivery docket was filled one day in advance by the front desk, which saved us time on the departure morning when we were going to the next destination. We really appreciated their help. I will definitely consider staying in this hotel for my next visit to Kyoto.

The hotel is right in Nishiki Market with hundreds of shops and restaurants to explore. In addition, it is half a block to a main street with more of the same. A short walk to the river gets you to Pontochon(?) Street, a lively nightlife area. And, walking past Pontochon and over the river gets you to Gion. The location is excellent. Our room was a little small. The bed a little firm. There is a free coffee machine in the lobby. The staff were very helpful. You can not access your room until 3:00, so they held our bags and delivered them to the room before we got back to check-in. We asked where to get good ramen and one of the staff members took us out of the hotel and 100 yards down the street to show us exactly where we should eat. The line waiting outside hinted at the qualityof the ramen, and it really was excellent.

The location inside the shopping arcade is simply excellent. The hotel is well presented, staff are helpful and the rooms are quite large for japan. The free sake and wine bar, as well as tea/coffee and soft drinks, was made for an even more comfortable stay. These touches make all the difference for weary travellers. This was my (and my child's) second time visiting in 6 years, and this time, I brought friends who also loved it. The location is not far from Gion and easy to access from kyoto station via taxi or bus. The Hankyu line is also literally underneath the hotel, which we used to get back to Osaka for our flight. We will definitely be back for visit number 3!
